It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones including the Recorder of Manchester David Stockdale, HHJ Hilary Manley, HHJ Elizabeth Nicholls, HHJ Bancroft and Laura Harper from Shoosmiths LLP.  A wonderful array of supporters. Which included the sponsors Lisa Roberts QC of  Lincoln House Chambers  for their sponsorship, Susan Chisolm Northern Circuit, Abbie Hart from Real Recruitment, Elizabeth Garus from Investec Wealth and Investment and Sam Kendrick from K2 Legal Support.

With a huge thank you to those who assisted with the dinner, especially Susan Chisolm, Charlotte Percy from Slater and Gordon for her help with the raffle prizes and  HHJ Roddy for her efforts.  Dame Heather Hallett gave an excellent speech and we are grateful to her for coming up North and giving an amazing speech.  She was introduced by HHJ Goddard QC from Manchester Crown Square.  The welcoming crowd were delighted to see HHJ Langdale, semi retired judge HHJ Eaglestone Judge Bancroft all of whom have  been a great supporter of all the past Women in the law dinners over the years as well as Recorders, Ciaran Rankin from Deans court and Nigel Poole QC from Kings, Kate Blackwell, Sarah Johnson, Katherine Pierpoint.  A special thanks was given to those who travelled from afar especially HHJ Christine Lees, Regional Employment judge for Yorkshire and Humber and Dr Frances Burton, an academic  from the AWB committee who travelled from London by car.

The event gave a chance for young women starting in their careers to talk to senior women and men about the profession.  The event exists to encourage, inspire and support the next generation of lawyers and many commented on just that very point.  The event initiated many new members to the associations to consider judicial applications and applications to be a QC.
