Special awards ceremony celebrates North West law students who are top of the class

High-achieving Manchester and Liverpool BPP University students attended a special awards event last night to celebrate their successes.

Students who proved to be top of the class in exams, assignments and throughout their studies in a variety of other ways received prizes for their efforts at BPP University’s Prizegiving ceremony at their Manchester site in Oxford Street.

The North West award-winners received their accolades from former BPP University student and Shadow Minister for Transport, Jonathan Reynolds MP.

The Stalybridge and Hyde MP achieved his Graduate Diploma in Law from 2007-08 before completing the Legal Practice Course in 2008-09. He later worked for top firm Addleshaw Goddard LLP in Manchester.

MP Reynolds said: “I was delighted to head back to BPP University, and was very pleased to be asked to be the guest speaker for the event. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and look back upon the memories fondly.”

The prize-giving event was held straight after BPP University’s November Graduation ceremony which took place for the first time in the University’s history at Manchester’s stunning Town Hall on November 12.

MP Reynolds added: “Graduation is a special time for any student, and it was fantastic to be a part of a memorable moment rewarding hard work.”

Also in attendance to support the special prize-giving event were a host of major players in the legal market who kindly sponsored the awards. They included Addleshaw Goddard, Berg, BLM, Brabners, Burton Copeland, Clyde & Co, DWF, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, JMW, Latitude Law, Riverview Law, Roberts Jackson, Stephensons, Squire Patton Boggs, TLT and Weightmans as well as barristers’ chambers Deans Court, Exchange, Lincoln House and St. John’s Buildings. A special award was also made by the Manchester Law Society President Louise Straw.

“We are so grateful for all the generous support from our sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible, and we were delighted to welcome back our alumnus, Jonathan Reynolds MP.”
